PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., July 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MISTRAS Group, Inc. (NYSE:MG) announced the award of a multi-year contract to provide Fleet Radiography services to Southern Nuclear, the nuclear energy operating subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE:SO).

The agreement emphasizes the experience of MISTRAS' extensive Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) inspection services portfolio. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, Balance of Plant (BOP), Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) programs, in-service and vendor location inspection services.

Southern Nuclear operates three key facilities, Farley, Hatch and Vogtle, which provide approximately 20 percent of Alabama and Georgia's electricity use.  Southern Nuclear will operate Plant Voglte units 3 and 4 upon completion, currently under construction by Georgia Power, an Electric Utility of Southern Company.
