Princeton Junction, NJ – March, 2010 – For the eighth consecutive year, MISTRAS Services has received the Sunoco Safety award for their exceptional safety performance within three Sunoco refineries in the Philadelphia area.

The award was presented based on work performed in 2009 by NDT inspectors from MISTRAS’ Northeast Regional office in Trainer, Pa. The MISTRAS team obtained an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable rating of less than 0.37 while doing contracted work within Sunoco NER, including the Marcus Hook, Sunoco Philadelphia and Sunoco Eagle Point refineries.

The Sunoco Safety award is given out annually to companies who achieve a rating of .37 or below while contracted with one of the Sunoco refineries. Weekly safety audits and quarterly safety meetings are used to evaluate employees throughout the year to determine if the company qualifies for the award.

“I am very proud of all our field service employees and management team for working so hard to raise safety awareness and enforcing the MISTRAS Services and Sunoco safety policies and procedures,” said Collin Eckerd, General Manager of Trainer for MISTRAS Services. “We take the safety of all our employees very seriously and through continued site safety audits, quarterly safety meetings, peer checking and communication for raised awareness, we are confident that we can all continue to reduce recordable injuries and lost work days. At the end of the day, our goal is to ensure everyone returns home to their family and loved ones without injury or incident.”

MISTRAS holds safety standards to an ultimate high and it shows. The world-renowned company receives multiple safety awards each year for their reliable work with highly regarded companies throughout the country and their consistently loyal employees are the ones to thank.

“The performance of the individuals at this facility stands as an illustration of how management support and employee attention and awareness can reduce injuries,” said Chris Smith, Group Corporate Compliance Officer for MISTRAS. “I am extremely proud of the exemplary performance of these individuals – they serve as an example for the MISTRAS organization.”
